Privacy Policy
How I collect, use and protect your information when you visit this website or request a free estimate for a painting project in Woodland, Sacramento or Solano County.
Last updated: October 6, 2026This Policy in Four Lines
GRC Custom Painting is a one-person business. When you contact me, your details come to me directly, not to a call centre, a sales team or a lead-selling service.
I never sell your data
Never sold, rented or passed to other contractors or lead-generation companies.
I collect only what I need
Enough to quote your project and get to your door. Nothing more.
Your home stays private
No photo of your property is published without asking you first.
You can have it deleted
Ask and I'll delete it, apart from records I'm legally required to keep.
01 Who I Am
GRC Custom Painting is owned and operated by Gerry, a licensed California painting contractor based in Woodland, CA, licence CSLB #1097297. There is no team and no office staff, so the only person handling your information is the same person painting your home. You can read more about how I work or see the painting services I offer.
This policy covers grccustompainting.com and the information I receive when you contact me about a project in Yolo, Sacramento or Solano County.
02 What I Collect
Nearly everything starts with a free estimate. When you request one by phone, email or the form on this site, I take down what I need to price the job and reach you:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- The address of the property to be painted
- Details of the work: rooms, surfaces, colours, age of the home, and any photos you send me
- Anything else you tell me, such as access, pets or scheduling
Calls and texts to (530) 650-5604 stay on my phone; emails stay in my email account. I use them to answer your question, book the walkthrough and keep you updated while the job runs. I may call or text you about scheduling or a question mid-job, and you can tell me to stop at any time without it affecting your work. I don't send newsletters or marketing blasts.
Please don't send Social Security numbers, bank or card details, or identity documents. I don't ask for them and don't want them.
03 Website Data and Cookies
This site automatically records basic technical information when you visit: IP address, browser, device, pages viewed and referring site. It's used to keep the site running, block spam and see which pages are useful, not to identify you. Analytics tell me visitor numbers and popular pages in aggregate.
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Some are needed for the site to work, others support analytics. If you leave a comment on a blog post you can choose to have your name, email and website saved in a cookie so you don't retype them next time. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and the site will still work.
Do Not Track: There is no common industry standard for responding to browser "Do Not Track" signals, so this site does not currently respond to them. I also do not allow third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your activity across other websites through this site.
04 Who I Share It With
I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and I have never passed a customer's details to another contractor or a lead-buying service.
A few ordinary service providers handle data on my behalf, each only for the purpose named: website hosting and email to run the site and deliver your messages; analytics for aggregated visitor statistics; a review platform, only if you choose to leave a review; and paint suppliers, who may receive a delivery address and nothing else.
The Instagram feed on this site is served by Instagram, which may set its own cookies and collect data as if you had visited Instagram directly. Their privacy policy governs that, not this one. I may also disclose information where the law requires it.
05 Photographs of Your Project
I photograph my work. Before-and-after shots are how a painter shows what he can do, and some end up in the project gallery or on social media.
Here's my rule, and it doesn't bend. I ask before any photo of your property is published. If you'd rather I didn't, that's the end of it, and it makes no difference to your job, your schedule or your price. Where you're happy for photos to be used, I keep the work in frame: no house numbers, no street signs, no vehicles, no mail, no family photographs on the walls. Your name and address are never published alongside a photo, and if you change your mind later, tell me and I'll remove it.
Photos taken purely for my records, such as surface condition before prep, are kept privately and never published.
06 How I Use It, and How Long I Keep It
Your information is used to prepare your estimate, schedule and run the work, order the right materials, invoice you, keep business and tax records, meet legal obligations, and follow up on the finished job or a warranty question. I don't build advertising profiles and I don't use automated decision-making.
Enquiries that don't become work are kept for around a year in case you come back to the project. Records for completed jobs are kept as long as business and tax rules require. EPA Lead-Safe (RRP) documentation for homes built before 1978 is kept for the period federal rules require. Blog comments are kept while the post is live.
07 Your Rights and Choices
GRC Custom Painting falls well below the size thresholds that make the California Consumer Privacy Act legally binding on a company. I'd rather honour the principles anyway, so wherever you live you can ask me to tell you what I hold about you, correct it, delete it apart from records I'm legally required to keep, remove a photo of your property, or stop contacting you. Call or email and I'll handle it myself, normally within a few days. I won't treat you differently for asking.
California "Shine the Light" (Civil Code § 1798.83): I do not share customers' personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, so there is nothing to disclose under this law.
08 Security, Children and Changes
Your information sits on a password-protected phone and computer and with the providers named above. Keeping the number of places it lives small is one quiet advantage of a business with one person in it. Even so, no website or email system is perfectly secure and I can't guarantee data sent over the internet against every risk.
This website and my services are meant for adults, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, contact me and I'll delete it.
If my practices change I'll update this page and change the date at the top, which is always the version in force.
